My Personal Review Of P90X

When you receive P90X, you will receive 12 DVD’s, along with a Fitness Guide and Nutrition Guide. The Fitness Guide has about 100 pages that go into great detail about each of the workouts and how to do the exercises, allowing you to go to the gym and do the workouts if you would like. The Nutrition Guide is a comprehensive 3 phase guide that explains how, what, and when to eat.  You will also need to have a Pull-Up bar. I understand the one that you can get through P90X is great because you do not have to attach it to the door. Instead you just hang it in the frame of your door and you can remove it whenever you like. There are no tools required or bolts. Personally I bought the Iron Gym by Pro Fit and it worked pretty well for me. Just like the P90X pull up bar it does not require any bolts to hang it. It just hangs from the door frame so you can hang it and remove it with ease.  All you have to have is a door frame wide enough to hold it.  Once you begin the program, you’re quickly going to realize why the program is so effective! After the first few few workouts you are going to be very sore. Also your metabolism is going to really increase so you will be finding yourself hungry much more often then you did before. Every workout uses many different types of exercises so muscle confusion is very noticeable.

When I (Paul)  started doing P90X I was 210 pounds. I am 6’5″ tall and have been a hard gainer all my life. When I started I was already pretty active, so my story is much different than people who wanted to lose weight and did lose huge amounts. My whole goal for doing the program was to gain some muscle. I was made aware how challenging this routine was on my first week. After my first day of working out I was pretty tired. I had not done that many pushups and pullups in quite some time. I woke up the next morning pretty sore. One of the activities I enjoy is beach volleyball so the next morning I went and played about 4 hours of beach volleyball. When I got home I put on the plyo workout. I learned that day that playing volleyball for 4 hours and then doing plyo on top of it was not a good mix. The next day when I woke up I could barely move. I still got through the rest of my week, but it was not easy. On top of that I was eating none stop. I would eat a huge meal and an hour later I was starving again. Thankfully this only lasted for a about a week or two. I am not going to tell you get it gets easier as it goes on. I was not near as sore as I was after the first week during the following weeks and my metabolism did slow down.

Hopefully I have not scared you off from trying this program. This program really works! It is so great because you are always doing something different. This program includes every aspect of fitness. You get cardio, resistance training, core, and flexibility. I really like how you have a calendar and you just follow the calendar. You know exactly what program you are doing for that day. Also Tony Horton does the exercises with you. This really helped me keep going. Seeing someone as fit as Tony Horton do it inspired me to push harder, and dig deeper. I wanted to be able to do as many reps as he was doing and if I could beat his even better. This program is challenging, but it is very doable.  I started at 210 and when I finished my 90 days I was 218. I gained about 8 pounds of muscle.  Again let me explain to you that I have been a hard gainer all my life and gaining as much as a pound has been a struggle for me. This program really works!

When you do P90X you get a few different options on equipment to use. The best and most effective is to use dumbbells. I did not have any myself and used resistance bands. After finishing my first round of P90X, I went a second round, and I even added a weight vest to the pushups and pullups.

P90X is for anybody who wants to get accelerated results to lose weight, get ripped, or bulk up. There is an endless variety of ways to mix and match programs to keep you motivated for 90 days and beyond!
