On today’s hangout we discussed muscular endurance. Muscular endurance is one of the 5 components of fitness which are muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular, and body composition.

The definition of muscular endurance is the ability of skeletal muscle to repeatedly and statically contract or exert submaximal force, over an extended period of time.

Say what?

That basically just means that your muscles move repeatedly using lower weight for a certain amount of time. Think about doing pushups over and over until you can’t do anymore and you would have muscular endurance.

The Benefits of Muscular EnduranceMuscular Endurance

Doing muscular endurance type activities are good for your over all health. For one thing many of the activities we perform in our day to day lives require some type of muscular endurance activity. Just think about some of the things you do on a day to day basis and you will realize that there are many activities that require muscular endurance. For example, washing the car, carrying groceries, walking up and down the stars, mopping, vacuuming just to name a few.

Doing muscular endurance activities is good for your heart, will lower your body fat and increase lean muscle mass. It will strengthen your ligaments, tendons, and bone strength as well.

In sports muscular endurance activities are pretty much performed everywhere and by developing muscular endurance you will gain strength and be able to perform an activity for a longer period of time.
