Beach Pic For PhoneroomI thought I would share my story with you. This is my story about how I came into an exciting industry that has the potential to not only allow you to inspire others but you will also grow as an individual and so will your bank account.

I have been involved in fitness most of my life. I am a big sports fan and really enjoy watching and playing sports. I have never been a great athlete, but that has never deterred me in any way from wanting to play.  Back when I was in high school, well jr. high is when I really got into basketball. I used to get to school early and play. When I was in high school you would find me at the park playing until it got dark and even then I did not want to stop. I remember times playing in the dark using only the car lights to help see. Everywhere I went I had a basketball in my hand.  Honestly I could say I loved basketball and it was something I thought I would be playing for a long time.

Fast forward to my junior year in high school

That summer I practiced as much as I could practice. I worked on every aspect of my game and I really wanted to be a great player. I was very excited when school started because I felt I had prepared to really help the team. It was not to be though. This was a turning point in my young life. I had a dream to play college ball at least, but I would not even get a chance to play on the varsity team for my high school.  Over that year I had physically grown a lot and I am sure you have heard the expression growing pains. Well this is a real thing and I experienced it. What happened to me was my bones grew faster than my ligaments and it was causing sever pain in my knees. I tried to play, but it just was not going to happen. I was called a quitter by my coach and it really did have a profound affect on me. From that moment on I felt lost because I did not know what I was going to do. I did try to play volleyball my senior year in high school, but I had to quit that as well. I have to admit I blamed God for this. I did not understand why something I loved so much was taken from me and this lead me to many years of just trying to figure out what my passion was.

My college years were a very dark time for me. Well at least my jr. college years. I did not even know what I was doing there.

I was fed Me being funny!up with school and just had no direction. Without being able to play the game I loved I did not know what to do. I tried replacing that with other things, but it just never filled the void. During this time I started to learn the guitar. I spent many hours with my guitar and started to think one day I might actually become great. Long story short this did not pan out. Life got in the way and it was not my focus anymore.

During this whole time I was pretty much lost and did know what I was passionate about. I am sure some of you can relate to that. I think it was in the Fall of 2002 when I finally made up my mind I wanted to be involved some way in fitness and helping others. I just did not know what I was going to do with it. I changed my major which at the time was Child Development to Kinesiology. This was not an easy decision for me. I really did not know what I was going to do with this major, but I knew I really enjoyed fitness  and I wanted to learn as much as I could.

It was at my part time job working at a high school as a Campus Aide I figured out what I was going to do. I watched day after day how the students were just out of shape. They had no motivation and just looked like they were miserable. I could not understand how they could be so out of shape when they had PE every day. So this is what I decided to do. I wanted to become a PE Teacher even though I knew I would not get much recognition and jobs were not very many jobs. I wanted to be someone that made a difference.  So I finished my degree and I went on and got my teaching credential.

After getting my teaching credential I applied to at least 100 jobs. I interviewed all over and just could not land a job. It actually took me over a year from graduating with my teaching credential to land a job. During this time I decided I wanted to be in health and fitness so I went to LA Fitness and asked what I needed to do to be a personal trainer. I told them what education I had and I got hired right away. The pay did not take care of all my bills so I still had to substitute teach too, but I was working in fitness. I was able to help others and this is when I knew without a doubt in my mind if I could make a living helping others become fit and healthy I wanted to do it.

After working at LA fitness for a little over a year and starting my own personal training business, I finally landed a PE Job.  It was not exactly what I wanted, but I would be working with kids and helping them get healthy so I took it. I would like to say that everybody loved what I was doing, but that is not the case. I learned really fast just how little many people think of PE teachers. I poured my heart and soul into that job. It was my mission to help as many kids and even teachers to get fit and healthy. I wanted the kids to share what they learned with their parents. I did this for 3 years then due to budget cuts I was sent packing.

The next two years would be a real growing experience for me and a very trying time. When I first got laid off I had no clue what to do. I spent the first year just hoping I would get hired back. I did do some studying to prepare to teach Science because I was told it was in demand and I could get a job, but I had to be honest with myself. I knew what I was passionate about and it was not teaching Science so I stuck to my passion. During this time I was doing my first round of P90x and I would see just how many people were into the workouts. I saw how there were message boards and it got me thinking it would be awesome to have a little community of my own to help others with their workouts. So I decided to start a  Face Book Fan Page. I had no idea what this was at the time, but I did know I wanted to help. What started as just a Fan Page led to my very first website. I had no idea how to build a website, but that did not matter to me. I just wanted to share what I knew and help as many people as I could. It was not long after I started a website that my friend Jason told me about his friend doing a fitness boot camp and he was very successful at it. This got me thinking and I decided to do the same. Never really owning a business I had no clue what I was doing. Long story short this did not work out. During this time I went and got two advanced personal training certifications and one other one. I thought that having those certifications would separate me from the pack. So here I am, educated, I have my certifications and all I want to do is help others get fit and healthy. If only it were that easy and people actually wanted my help.

At this time I was so frustrated with my fitness bootcamp. I had tried everything I could think of to get people to come to it. I knew my stuff fitness wise, but that did not bring me clients. I was stressed out and I was just not enjoying the process at all. This is when I got an email in Linked In from my future sponsor. His name is Tom Perkins and he told me in the email he was a fitness business coach. At this point I was ready and willing to listen to advice. What I was doing was not working so I took the call. I did not know it, but after that call I was going to change everything dramatically. After talking to Tom for some time about my business he mentioned a company where I could be my own boss and start earning a monthly residual income by leveraging my hours and I could still help people get fit and healthy.  I am not going to say this is easy because it is not. There is a lot to learn. From my experience though, people in this business really just want to help. Throughout this journey I have grown dramatically as an individual. I have broken down walls that were standing before me and each and every day I am becoming a stronger person. Throughout this process I have set up multiple streams of income so if one stream dries up then I still have others. I learned a real valuable lesson when I was laid off and I will never depend on just a job again because when that job goes away you are left with nothing. I can tell you first hand that it is a very scary thing to go through.

It is my desire in life to help as many people as I can reach their full potential. I want to share with you what I have learned and continue to learn and show you that you too can create something bigger than you can even imagine. You were not designed to be mediocre. Instead you were made to be great. I would love to help you reach your greatness so please feel free to connect with me.
